I’ve been where you are.
I was once a nervous high school senior staring down a blank Common App and a long list of to-dos: personal statements, supplemental essays, asking for recommendation letters, standardized tests…
I was juggling the most challenging workload a senior could take: AP classes, honors electives, extracurriculars, a part-time job, college tours, and the pressure to make every move count.
Academically, my junior year was solid: far from optimal but good enough. At the time, I certainly didn’t think so. I remember the late nights, the second-guessing… the feeling that my dream school was riding on a few paragraphs and a few months of a rigorous course load.
On top of that, my brain ached from sifting through hundreds of (often contradictory) snippets of admissions guidance online - like doom scrolling on TikTok with life-changing stakes.
The next few months were a blur. I locked in and did what I advise all of my students to do now.
Focus.
The first half of your senior year is critical. It’s time to deliver some crucial pieces and wrap it all together.

In the midst of the pandemic, I launched my career in finance, working in equity markets as an institutional salesperson at Peel Hunt (UK investment bank and leading corporate broker). During my five years at Peel Hunt (2020-2025), I developed expertise in parsing and repositioning equity research, complex problem-solving, cultivating client relationships, and navigating high-pressure environments. This experience gave me unique insights into what characteristics top investors seek in candidates and how to effectively communicate value propositions – skills that translate directly to helping students craft compelling college applications.
